Rachel Potter Design Shoot 2009

All clothing designed & created by Rachel Potter

I answered the phone.

“Rachel, I have an empty studio space in Manhattan, a great model, and a new camera! Can I use your designs for a shoot? Next week?”

That simple call launched a flurry of sketches, pilgrimages to fabric stores, and lost sleep. Designs I had, yes. The tangible garments? They existed…in my mind. The process of sublimating them into art to be photographed for a Brooklyn-based design collective was not only stimulating and exciting, but it challenged my creativity and skill as a designer with minimal experience. The most rewarding part of the whole week was watching the shoot in action, knowing that its success was reflective of artistic compositions representative of my ideas.

Here are the results of the shoot.
